Moving to Lebanon requires more than finding accommodation and booking a flight. Your passport, purpose and intended length of stay determine the questions to ask, while current regional conditions affect whether moving now is appropriate.
Begin with the correct entry category
Lebanese General Security publishes nationality-specific entry requirements. Some travellers may qualify for arrival arrangements subject to conditions, while others need prior authorisation or a visa obtained before travelling.
Do not assume GCC residence creates universal eligibility. The rules can depend on nationality, supporting residence, occupation, purpose and documents; verify your exact case through the competent authority or Lebanese mission.
Important passport-history checks
Official entry guidance warns that evidence of travel to Israel can affect admission. Seek an eligibility decision from the appropriate mission before booking if this is relevant; do not conceal information or rely on an agent promising to bypass a restriction.
A visa is not an unconditional guarantee of admission. Keep the official approval, supporting documents and a truthful explanation of your purpose available.
Employment and business management
Work authorisation and residence are separate from a tourist visit. Official investment guidance identifies the Ministry of Labour and General Security as relevant authorities for the appropriate processes.
Obtain the employer's or adviser's current checklist before starting work. Company ownership alone does not settle personal immigration status; our business setup guide explains the distinction.
Study and family routes
A student should obtain formal admission and ask the institution for current residence requirements, fees and renewal obligations. Clarify whether any work is permitted rather than assuming a student status includes employment rights.
Family applications can require relationship records, supporting status and other evidence. Each dependant needs the correct basis; an adult's permission does not automatically cover a spouse or child.
Prepare an authority-specific file
- Passport, nationality and present residence details.
- Genuine purpose, proposed dates and accommodation or host information.
- Employment, company, university or family documents relevant to the category.
- Required translations, attestations, insurance or financial evidence where specified.
Ask about passport validity, permitted stay, entries, renewals and the deadline to complete local formalities. Do not use a single generic fee or duration for every nationality.
Practical relocation checks
Before signing a lease, verify power, water, communications, healthcare access and cancellation or exit arrangements. Use current quotes and check the exact address against regional advice.
Our country guide explains the social context. This overview helps organise a lawful application; it does not determine individual eligibility, promise an approval or replace current professional and consular advice.
